Ecology Learning Service Project: BioSITE

How we prepared
Every Tuesday during tutorial, students would come into Mr Bursch's class to learn about what we were going to do during this project. What we first did was go over the point of biosite. Throughout time, we did a varied of labs. One lab we did was the seed dissection. We were given a tray of seeds from dry ones to wet ones. In this lab, we learned about the inside of the seeds and all of its parts. Also, we learned about the point of the seeds and their purpose.
Another lab we did was a search of compost. We were given a tray of a pile of compost and were tasked to draw what we had found in the pile. We found a lot of interesting things like different examples of FBI- and what it stood for, fungus, bacteria, and invertebrate. The next lart was doing a timeline on how long it takes specific items to break down or decompose. We were given an outline of basically what we would say when tracking the fourth graders. We all split up into groups of compost, seed dissection, and chickens. I worked with Emiliano and Edwin. The next activity for this project was to teach it for the fourth graders who came during our fourth period.
